Summary —An on-demand health information service, FCMB Health Advisory Services makes it easier for Nigerians to access quality healthcare from the convenience of their homes, offices or even on the go. It was launched in partnership with Wellvis, an online health information & services platform and member of the Hub One community.
Lagos, Nigeria —First City Monument Bank (FCMB), one of the leading financial services institutions in Nigeria has launched Health Advisory Services (HAS), an on-demand health information service.
Self-medication is very prevalent in Nigeria. These — this, this and this — reports are a testament to that fact. This practice is not advised due to the devastating effects it can have — misdiagnosis, complications or even death.
Through Health Advisory Services, FCMB seeks to eliminate self-medication by providing Nigerians easy and quick access to qualified medical doctors across a broad range of specialities who can offer authentic medical advice. As at the time of launch, there were over a hundred doctors on the platform.
Also on the platform, Nigerians can access free health resources on key medical conditions such as Malaria and Hypertension.
During his opening remarks at the digital launch, Mr Olu Akanmu highlighted FCMB’s belief that “the good things of life needs to be more inclusive”, which is clearly evident in how the bank operates. “Over the last two years or so, you would see that we’ve created a niche for ourselves by creating a platform that enables a lot of parents to connect to the opportunities of higher education much more than ever before through our FCMB Educational Advisory Services,” he said.
It is this same belief of inclusivity of the good things of life for all Nigerians that led to the partnership with Wellvis to provide access to quality healthcare services to Nigerians, regardless of their status in the society.
“What we are demonstrating today is that working with our partner Wellvis, we are creating working with them a partner that provides affordable access to healthcare for many more Nigerians, much more than has happened before,” Mr Akanmu concluded.
FCMB customers across the country can speak to a doctor on the platform for free for the first 30 minutes. Non-customers can access the platform at pocket-friendly rates.
“We’re excited to be partnering with a big institution like FCMB who believed in the product, who think that there’s a need for a lot more people to have access to it than just people that do right now, who have decided to provide a means of distribution for this product…,” said Wale, founder of Wellvis during the launch of the service.
