Can we meet you?
My name is Confidence Odionye, I’m the CEO of BeatTraffik
What does Beat Traffik do?
Beat Traffik is a traffic management application that seeks to reduce the time wasted on traffic day to day in Lagos and other urban cities in Africa
What’s so unique about Beat Traffik?
Something we see in our space is that, people most times just talk about the problem, but we are focused on solving the problem of traffic congestion and how we can reduce congestion in cities. Not just informing the users on traffic information, but telling them where to take or maybe to provide physical infrastructure that people should use to move from one place to another. So our goal is to solve this problem and that’s what makes us different and in doing this, we are willing to collaborate with anybody and any organization to make this possible.
How have you been able to solve the problem so far and how have you been able to help the community where you’re based?
We have helped over 10,000 people in Lagos move from point A to point Z which is their home to their office successfully and traffic sometimes can be predicted and so many times can’t be predicted. We have been able to give our users real time information. In our community, we have been able to actually put more spotlight in this Herbert Macauley way and the Yaba environs in particular and we believe that most of our information has been able to help several road users to seek alternative route to most of their destination.
What are your career goals?
When I was a child, I wanted to be a pilot, but when I found out the several conditions, I got scared but yet, what we are working on is still related to the aircraft and the space sector. My goal is to majorly solve problems and I still have one more goal, to move out of this planet, either visit the moon or go to mars.
Where do you see yourself and your business in 5 years?
In 5 years, we should be one of the major leaders in traffic management, not only in Nigeria, but in Africa.
What made you choose Leadspace as your office location?
The facility is lovely and the people around me are good.
What’s the greatest benefit of co-working in your opinion?
I think co-working creates an opportunity to meet more people and be more creative. You get to interact with more people with different ideas, working on different projects. You get to see their ups and downs, you also have to apply them to your own situation. In a coworking space, you have so many people doing so many things with diverse knowledge and you get to learn from each other.
Has Leadspace helped you to achieve significant aspects of your organizational goals?
Yes, in terms of branding and organization Leadspace has contributed
What’s your opinion on entrepreneurship?
I believe every human should be an entrepreneur, cos that’s the only way we can substantially reduce poverty, increase development and infrastructure. I believe we were created to be entrepreneurs, there are lots of problems around us.
What’s your advice to someone just starting out?
You need patience, resilience, passion and focus because you have ups and downs and whenever you have those downs, you shouldn’t be discouraged, keep on looking at your goals and what you want to achieve, cos for every milestone you reach, there are more milestone for you to achieve. Even the richest men like Bill Gates, once he loses focus, he can drop at any time, so be focused and keep your passion alive.
So thank you very much for your time, so how can people be able to contact you?
Thank you Mr Confidence,
It’s my pleasure.
